A few times panic attacks are caused by hyperthyroidism or over-active thyroid gland. It would be better if you have your thyroid levels checked up to rule out this possibility. In case you do have high thyroid levels this could be the reason for your panic attacks and you could stop panic attack occurrence with the medication that regulates your thyroid gland.

A very effective method how to stop a panic attack  is practicing mind control. It is quite difficult and requires a lot of practice, but the results are worth the trouble. What you must do here is to either distract yourself when the panic attack mounts or to resort to meditation. You should push your thoughts to positive experiences such as pleasant feelings,smells, sounds, or visuals and force yourself to focus on the pleasant feedback so that it overlaps and negates the symptoms of the panic attack. This technique is very effective though it takes some time to master.
