Overcoming Driving Panic Attacks

Driving panic attacks or driving phobia can happen to anyone as a result of some situation they encounter while driving such as driving over bridges or a fear of highways,after meeting with an accident,driving test  the first thing they want to know are the solutions available to stop the panic.

When driving out on the road is perhaps one of the most stressful parts of anyone’s day as rush hour can be like a jungle at times. This is why having panic attacks while driving can make for a dangerous situation if left untreated. If you find yourself having driving anxiety  or driving panic attacks , try some of these tips.

Before getting started, one thing to keep in mind is that these tips to stop fear of driving will require your participation. They will not only tell you why you are suffering from panic or anxiety attacks while driving, but how to solve the problem as well.

To overcome driving panic attacks disorder  the first thing to do is to write down an affirmation statement

Writing down and repeating an affirmation statement when finding yourself becoming anxious behind the wheel is very helpful.

For example: “I can drive in the right lane at the required speed limit and know I’m safe.”

Find Your Automatic Thought

When begin feeling driving panic attacks  symptoms while driving , you probably have some of the same thoughts going through your mind that is causing them. For instance, when you merge onto the highway, do you find yourself thinking, “Am I going to get hit?” Or when you are at a stop sign you think, “I’m going to get rear-ended.”

These types of thoughts will make you feel like they are real and that this is exactly what is going to happen. But they are not true and you have to tell yourself that every time.

Write It All Out

Take the first two parts that have been listed above and begin to write down your ideas and situations you have experienced that are causing the anxiety.

Ask yourself what this means to you. This type of cognitive behavioral therapy is very good as a treatment of driving panic attacks .
