Effexor is a relatively new antidepressant used in the treatment of depression, anxiety and panic disorder. Its mode of action is unknown;but, appears related to serotonin. It is not in the same class as Prozac(Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors). It should be started at small doses and gradually increased until effective.
