Pills for anxiety available in the US fall into seven categories:beta blockers, benzodiazepines, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), tricyclic antidepressants, one azapirone (mild tranquilizer), and an anticonvulsant.
